The Benefits of Fibertec Waterproofing Products

Our waterproofing products give fabrics a water-repellent surface. This allows water to bead up and roll off more easily, and water-based dirt is less likely to stick to the material.

If the outer fabric stays dry longer, the garment maintains its optimal breathability. At the same time, less moisture builds up on the inside of the material during physical activity.

The result: The garment feels dry longer and better maintains its comfort even in changing weather conditions. Fibertec waterproofing agents protect the textile fibers and refresh the colors of the fabrics.

Suitable for many functional materials

Almost all waterproof and breathable garments with a climate membrane—for example, GORE-TEX® clothing—as well as many textiles without a membrane can be treated with suitable Fibertec waterproofing agents.

Depending on the product, suitable items include, for example:

Spray waterproofing or wash-in waterproofing?

Different methods are available depending on the textile and the intended use.

Waterproofing spray – applied specifically to the outer surface

Water-repellent sprays are versatile all-rounders for targeted treatment of the outer surface of textiles.

The freshly washed and thoroughly cleaned garment is sprayed evenly on the outside. This allows the water-repellent treatment to be applied precisely where it’s needed.

The advantage: The inner surface and lining are not treated. This preserves their moisture-wicking properties.

Water-repellent spray is particularly suitable for functional jackets, softshells, and other textiles where the water-repellent effect on the outer surface needs to be renewed.

Wash-In – Water-Repellent Treatment in the Washing Machine

The practical alternative to spray: our Wash-In water-repellent treatment.

With the wash-in treatment, the cleaned textile is treated directly in the washing machine. To do this, measure out the appropriate amount of our Textile Guard Wash-In according to the usage instructions and select a suitable waterproofing cycle.

The waterproofing agent distributes evenly throughout the fabric during the wash cycle.

Waterproofing does not replace professional cleaning or membrane maintenance. For optimal performance, we therefore recommend a combination of the right detergent, regular cleaning, and water-repellent treatment as needed.
